BUTTON REMOTE FOR APPLE TV

Bluetooth and overall size is nice. The fact that there’s no proper home button and commonly used features are hidden behind long presses of random buttons is just not good, however. This is not something I’d be able to use as my only AppleTV remote, especially with other people in the house that won’t want to go though multi-button power on (power for TV, menu for AppleTV), long hold menu to get back home, long hold “P” up to being up the app picker, long hold “P” down for the system tray. All of those are either a single button or a quick double press on the Apple Remote. The ergonomics are really bad when you realize that you’re constantly long holding things. I understand this remote is a hack using keyboard input but it’s just not good for everyday use. It’s reasonable as a cheaper emergency remote if your official one gets lost or broken I suppose.

Brilliant!

This is an absolutely fabulous device. The setup process is dead simple with very clear instuctions. The layout of the buttons and their usage is quite intuitive as much of it echoes the AppleTV remote without the possibility of accidental trackpad input (the bane of the AppleTV remote). It didn’t take me long to figure out how things like fast forward, Control Center and App Switcher work. Overall, I’m thrilled to have the Function 101 remote.
