Enabling a development store is only possible for early access partners. Apply here to join the early access program.

Shop has strict eligibility requirements for shops and products to appear in the app. Development stores generally don't meet these eligibility requirements. If you'd like to use a development store for testing your Shop Mini, follow the steps below to create a new development store or enable an existing one.

Please note that development stores are automatically synced from your Shopify Partners organization account. Staff members of your organization will be able to test your Mini using these development stores.

Creating a new development store

1. Sign in to your partners account
2. Click Add store → Create development store and choose Create a store to test and build
3. Add yourself and other relevant users as team members to this development store.
4. Ensure that all team members added in the previous step have accounts in the Shop app with the same email addresses.
5. Enable Shopify Payments
   1. In your store admin, click Settings → Payments → Activate Shopify Payments
   2. Follow the instructions to fill out your address and phone number
   3. Follow the instructions to fill out your other details and complete account setup
   4. Click manage next to Shopify Payments and select "Enable test mode"
6. Install the Shop channel from the Shopify App Store

Enabling an existing development store

1. Ensure Shopify Payments is enabled (see above)
2. Install the Shop channel from the Shopify App Store

Time to process

The process to enable a development store may take a few days. To minimise delay, please follow these steps:

• Install the Shop sales channel in your development store.
• Create test products in your store before filing a request.

Once we've processed the request, it may take up to 48 hours for development store products to be available in the Shop app and usable within your Shop Mini. Adding new products may also take up to 48 hours.

Enable Shopify Payments

You must fully complete the setup for Shopify Payments and enable test mode if you want to test checkout functionality in your Shop Mini. If you have already enabled Shopify Payments but haven't completed setup, please click Complete account setup and provide the necessary information.
