My Favorite Gear Item As A Professional Trail Worker!
I lovve this tarp! I first heard of Slingfin from a trusted friend who claimed that this was the best tarp he had ever bought and only good things to say about the team. I quickly bought this tarp from his then recommendation, and I have had no disappointments with it in the last 2 years of constant professional usage in the backcountry. On my regular schedule of 8-day working backpacking trips I would use it from camp to camp, either sleeping in my hammock or bivy underneath, often in monsoonal rain. And plenty of times on my own personal camping and backpacking adventures I would sleep underneath it with a friend. It is very durable for an ultralight tarp and I don’t feel like I have to treat it like a porcelain egg just to not break it. It is also so spacious! It felt very roomy with two people under there, and you could definitely fit several more and still stay dry. I mostly use it in an A-frame setup and it stays so taught with all of the guy lines and attachment points (the included tensioners are the best and I always tie slip knots with the leftover cordage so it doesn’t loosen up in strong winds), and I have yet to experiment with all the other configurations this fantastic tarp can do. Hammock camping is starting to hurt my back and I’m not too eager to bivy camp anymore after a skunk crawled on top of me, so now I’m going to get different usage out of this tarp as an emergency rain shelter and camp tarp etc. And I just bought a 2Lite tent from Slingfin to bring with me to work soon! I am a believer in the Slingfin team and their top notch gear products!

Excellent, with a few tweaks necessary.
I used this tarp for a week canoeing along Lake Superior - it rained every day and we lived under this tarp at our campsites - we slept in a tent though. Mainly we strung it from trees, and once in a while used a staked pole. A few things: - It's a great size for 2 people. - The cut and guy line positioning work very well to (mostly) avoid pooling situations. - The guy lines slip through the cleats in high winds - maybe this is a safety thing to save the tarp, or maybe the lines are a mm too small for the cleats. It would be nice if the guy lines were a few feet longer (but isn't this always the case). - It is great to be able to hang clothes to dry from a clothesline under the centre line. However, over time the centreline seam leaks at the stitching points and drips onto the clothes. I'm going to seam seal it, take it on a long trip this summer, and report back!
