Excellent Hose Reel, but Pole Mount Could Be Better

The reel itself is excellent. It’s solid, well designed, and works exactly as it should. Installation was easy, and the instructions were clear. I added the extra capacity kit so I could use 200 feet of hose, along with the pole-mount option. I mounted it to a cemented-in 6x6 post with a vinyl post sleeve. My only complaint is that the pole mount doesn’t fit over the vinyl sleeve, so I had to notch the sleeve on one side where the reel attaches. I knew this before buying it, but I still wish ELEY offered a mounting option that worked with a standard 6x6/4x4 vinyl sleeve. A bare wooden post next to the house doesn’t look great, and people spending $500+ on a hose reel probably care about how the finished installation looks. Other than that, I’m very happy with it and I would recommend it.

Extra capacity kit

I bought this kit to have just in case I ever need more capacity for my hose reel. I ordered it at the same time I purchased my hose reel. I feel it was relatively inexpensive insure in case I need more capacity.

But for the short axle, I'd give it 5 stars but 4 will have to do. Apparently fitting this axle has all of the tolerances of a fine military instrument. If you don't get the reel pulled/pushed (hammered?) all the way on, not enough axle protrudes to hold the retaining clip. Personally, I thought I'd done enough, gave up and simply attached a hose clamp to the inlet/feeder hose so as to keep the reel from slipping off. Here again, an extra half inch of axle wouldn't have hurt anything yet made things much easier.
