Excellent travel companion

I bought the Prestina as a solution for two different travel scenarios. The first involves classic outdoor activities – hiking, cycling or packrafting, with camping and eating under the open sky. The second involves long-haul flights with hand luggage and accommodation in hotels, hostels or holiday lets. In each scenario, morning coffee is an important daily ritual, and making it yourself can be quite a challenge. The Prestina solves this problem. The process is incredibly simple and clean, requiring just 250 ml of hot water. Outdoors, you need to boil it, which is something you’d normally do anyway using a tiny gas burner. In hotels, kettles or hot water dispensers are widely available, so access to boiling water is generally not a problem. As a result, you get a good cup of coffee in sufficient quantity. I rate the elegance and simplicity of the whole process very highly. After pouring water over the coffee, filtering it and discarding the compressed grounds, the coffee maker and mug are easy to wash; and when there’s no facility for washing, you simply wipe them clean with a towel and pack them away. No mess at all. I’m a fan of compactness and packability – the most important features of everything I travel with. The Prestina isn’t just compact. It actually drops into packables category. It’s small and light, made up of just a few parts. The mug can serve as a versatile drinking vessel – the only one you carry. When packed, it can hold a supply of ground coffee inside Outdoors, the Prestina can be placed inside a 500 ml metal kettle, and the mug can even hold a small gas burner insteda of coffee. The only major criticism I have regarding the design’s usability is the very unclear water level markings, which are difficult to read whilst pouring water over the coffee. The scale lines should also be visible from inside the cylinder. Other reviewers have also pointed this out. This is definitely an area for improvement. We’ll also see how the device holds up to prolonged, intensive use and how long the rubber piston seal lasts. Either way, the Prestina will be my constant companion on all my travels.

Very simple, lovely taste

I have made a great cup of coffee with this device, it’s simple to use, has the normal cleaning fiddly bits associated with a device of this type. I have one at home and work, enjoy the making process as well so nothing but praise.

Took this when i was camping in france . What a god send i could have good coffee when i wanted . I have a aero press bit this beats it hands down . Quality item and is a must for me now when traveling .
