Izzo Temperature Probe

Weakest link?

My Duetto is 9 years old and this is the second time I have had to replace this probe. Other than a burnt segment on the Gicar PID display there have been no other issues with the machine. Why would a NTC thermistor fail? One more thing; this requires a copper crush washer to seal properly, part # FE680. Why it isn't sold together with the probe is unfortunate.
