SB 30L

Great pack, safeback could use a little work

SB 30 is a great touring pack. It rides well and is well organized with just enough pockets. To load it, I zip up the back panel and compress the gear in from the top. Then when I want access the back panel works great along with the roll top. It holds plenty for multi day hut trips, with a sleeping bag you might need the 40, with a tent definately the 40. The hip belt buckle is magical, going on super easy, staying on when you need it on, but coming off easily too. Wish they could do the same for the sternum strap. It's the same hard to use with gloves snaptex buckle everyone else has. No solutions there. I love how the pack is shallow and hugs your back keeping your center of gravity closer to where it usually is and thus easier to ski with. The helmet, skin, gloves, goggle, etc cary is the best. Holds everything you need for transitions and keeps it tight into your back. Nice. And somehow they cut the fabric such that when vigorously stuff the exterior pocket in the back and the avi tool pockets are not compressed out of existence. Stuffed pack with usable pockets that are still tight to the shape of the bag. Good job! The safeback, while positive on the weight and I assume on the functionality, is way to easy to turn on unintentionally. I'm used to airbags where it takes a definite yank to turn it on. In this case simply lifting up the shoulder straps with a pack loaded with skis can turn it on particularly if you lift too close to the lanyard. When this happens load up to boot pack to top of a couloir or peak in a storm it can be very inconvenient to pull the pack apart to reach the off switch. Very cold fingers! It just doesn't take much of a pull on the lanyard or even just a tug on the wire between the lanyard and the fan to activate it. PITA

Amazing pack

Now into my second season with the SB 30. What an amazing piece of gear. This pack is hands down the most functional and comfortable back pack that I’ve ever worn. Fully deserving of all the praise. The service when ordering was also very friendly and professional. Cannot wait to try out some of Raide’s other products, once they are back in stock.
