number six cologne confers both subtle as well assertive tonalities. neither floral nor spicy the lingering ambience proves a welcome companion with which to spend a day. the predominant top note offers an inviting entry; hints of amber in a gentle presentment.

I've been around for awhile and over the years my tastes have evolved regarding grooming. For ages I've used spray can shaving gels and after shave/colognes by popular designers. When it comes to scents the past couple of decades I've stuck with lighter, citrus or Bay Rhum products. More recently I decided to try Caswell & Massey's shave cream and scents despite thinking using a shaving brush was for hipsters. Choosing Number Six was easy, how could George Washington by wrong? I really enjoy these products and they are subtle but the scent does get noticed and not in a bad way. Woodgrain is also very pleasing as an alternative. All of the C-M products are reasonably priced and their service is excellent.

By George! It's a manly scent, well suited for men if the revolutionary era, and surprisingly ladies have complimented it. I say surprisingly, because other reviews say that mostly men enjoy the scent compared to women. It's a clean scent with a hint of Sauvage in there, a hint of Greenbriar, and no Jockey Club scent; if that makes sense to those that are familiar with the other scents. It lasts for at least 8 hours. If you're working and perspiring a lot, ,go with Greenbriar, as it lasts longer and is more refreshing. For a grounded, deeper masculine scent, Number VI is the candidate. It's a very grounding scent that warrants the terms sophisticated, competent, steadfast, cool under fire, and Commandatore. I wore Jockey Club first and it's a powdery, frenetic, athletic, younger scent. Greenbrier is like an Irish Spring meets Jockey Club, akimbo to Irish Tweed perhaps.
