Coot wings are a nice dark dun color. These make wonderful soft hackle and make a great substitute for hard to get Waterhen. The wing quills are also good for paired wet fly wings.

I haven’t tied a soft hackle yet using the water hen feathers but I have looked them over and they appear very nice!
