Ray Tubes Select 12AT7

Nice upgrade

I've been very pleased with my P75 pre-amp, but I was curious about how other tubes would change the sound. So I ordered a set of Ray select tubes, installed them, and have been surprised by how much more I'm enjoying my music. The tubes didn't completely change the sound of the pre-amp to me. They just improved some characteristics of the sound in subtle ways, but that was enough to push my enjoyment to another level.

Clear, tonally dense, just a hint of butter or sweetness

These tubes are phenomenal and, paired with the P75, sound as if they were made for one another. Clarity in this combination comes surprisingly close to what I hear with a direct DAC to amp connection, just adds a touch of buttery richness, tonal saturation, and greater bass drive... would agree with Terry of Pursuit Perfect System that these bring a real sense of "va-va-vroom" to the presentation, inject energy, color, and excitement in a way that can feel almost like an amplifier upgrade.

Using the P75 Ray tubes provided a step up in the upper low to midrange bite. A noticeable presence that I do enjoy!
