opencomm2, various units over time; critical review, very favorable, tried and true
my very first OC2 was absolutely amazing; I could whisper to my staff while walking thru busy/noisy airport terminals and they could hear every word even though I could not hear myself speaking; I upgraded to the UC for use at the office to be able to more easily connect to my desktop, but that only worked intermittently and was not as reliable as I had hoped; that unit began having various issues (function and sound, callers on the other end said they could barely hear me) and Shokz stepped up and covered it under warranty, much to my surprise and equally to my satisfaction; I have kept all these units and use them regularly, keeping them in different locations for immediate access, quite a luxury; now I bought the newest OC2 with the USB C connection which is a nice feature to not require carrying the dedicated magnetic cord, but the mag cord is nice to quick hookup/release; I prefer the boom mic version for the greatest voice clarity and noise cancellation; my 2 suggestions are: 1. even if it adds some bulk/weight, please consider adding some type of RFID or BT "find my unit" because as small, lightweight and easy to lose form factor, I often cannot remember where I set it down. . . thus the multiple ownership helps. . . ; 2. ditch the tear drop bubble zipper case for something much more compact and drop your price 5 or 10 bucks; for my first case, I razor cut out the interior to allow using it for the unit and other items, but it never really proved to be a useful carrying case; these headsets are so lightweight that I just drape it around my neck under my shirt collar and no one notices them, they are then always immediately available, not like 'buds' in a case in my pants pocket, etc, and 'bud's block my hearing and fall out, etc, whereas the bone conduction speakers are amazingly clear, robust and provide fantastic audio for music, voice, etc; I've never had a battery issue as sometimes they get left on all night and have at least half the battery in the morning; an upgrade feature could be providing a % of battery level announcement; nonetheless, I brag and promo these units to everyone I know because I believe in them so much, despite owning at least a dozen other BT headsets/buds over the last 15 years; keep it up, Shokz !!
