Keychron M5 Wireless Ergonomic Mouse

Not for me

This is my first venture into ergonomic mice and I did not enjoy it. I used it for a month hoping I would get used to it, but I still really don't like it. The M5 looks really nice, the top scroll wheel is great, and battery life is great. I used it in bluetooth mode on a mac, so I don't know how it behaves on windows. Macs are terrible with anything that isn't an apple product. Never tried the dongle. I could not get the same precision as a regular mouse and would consistently end up selecting incorrect areas on screen. The biggest issue I have is that when I try to make a selection, the cursor moves when I press the left mouse button. Essentially, the button is so stiff that the whole mouse shifts enough to change the cursor position before I can complete the selection. My other issue is the position and stiffness of the thumb scroll wheel. There is so much resistance that I would inadvertently hit the back button while using it, which really hindered my productivity at work. It's also really high up and awkward to use, which kind of defeats the whole ergonomic angle. Since I spent a month testing it and the return policy is only 7 days from purchase, I will be selling it on ebay.

I had this mouse for 4 months now, and I'm really happy with it. I bought this to help with my tennis elbow issue and considering I do heavy CAD work all day, I wanted something that felt light and precise at the same time. And on this points, Keychron delivered: - great ergonomic imo (I have no problem holding it and switching grip when i feel like it) - great sensor that feels precise and responsive (can be finetuned in the launcher) - lightweight which feels good to not drag a brick for 8hrs a day. - Launcher is super convenient to be accessible anywhere, and I had no problem reprogramming and tweaking the settings. Now for the improvement that I hope Keychron will implement in the future: - Weirdly I feel like the switches on the side buttons are better than the one on the LMB and RMB, could be nice to see some better switches here. - The side scroll wheel is convenient and I like this features but it feels a bit clunky compared to the main scroll. Here as well, could be more homogenous. - I agree with a commentor that being forced to wire the mouse (or keyboard as a matter of fact) so you can access the launcher settings is pretty tedious. - Last one, and this is maybe more a designer pet-peeve, but i would love to see a scroll wheel that is positioned and angled in more natural way for my index. Finally, and most importantly, incredible customer support ! I noticed an issue with the side scroll being inconsistent (skipping an input every now and then) and I contacted the support for this. They were quick to reach out to me, we ran some test, and figured there was indeed an issue and they kindly offered to replace my mouse. Very professional and helpful, that's why I would recommend Keychron in general.

Well built mouse with solvable issues

The mouse is light, but so far after about a week of usage, the construction and tolerances seem to be on par with some of the larger brands. I like the feel of it, though it could be a bit heavier. I come from gaming mice with lots of buttons, and I do like having that option. I knew that I'd be limited, but just a suggestion. My main issue with the 3 star rating is the double clicks I'm getting which seem to be tied to the low debounce and response time. The left clicker is double clicking unless I'm consciously holding the mouse perfectly and clicking right at the edge, which I'm not always doing, so either it's going to have to retrain me (I didn't have carpal tunnel) or this is an issue with the mouse's switch itself. I've increased the debounce time to 20ms all around and it's somewhat better, but it still happens more frequently than I'd like. I looked up the debounce time for my Razer Naga, and that was around 50ms. It also causes my click and dragging to deselect. This happens at least once a minute if I'm actively using the mouse. A big pain for work and unusable for gaming really (still using my Naga or my 10 year old G602) So a suggestion, if you can Keychron, allow us to bring the debounce time higher in the firmware, the sensitivity is preventing me from loving this mouse.
