A good scanner for analog communications
A good scanner for analog signals (Aviation, HAM, Maritime, FRS / GMRS). The stock rubber ducky antenna offers fair performance, but buying an aftermarket whip antenna increases the signal strength. One downside is that the AA rechargeable batteries do not hold a charge - I've made up for this by buying a rack charger for the batteries and will often keep the scanner on the charger to extend battery life. Using regular alkaline AA batteries will result in a lot of drained batteries. It's best to stick with rechargeable batteries and keeping a spare set always charged up. Also, some HAM frequencies are out of range (222 MHz) of this receiver. Despite these issues, this is a good investment at a reasonable price.
