BPLUS | Lower Shower Screen

53.7mm size screen is hard to find. This is the perfect size for ims 54mm portafilter. It also looks well made

Unsure if it makes my coffee better, keeps my shower screen cleaner

Bought it as part of keeping up with the Hoffmans, one of the things all the coffee nerds seem to be doing now. It's supposed to make my puck even. From a colour point of view I definitely see more even colouring in my puck, which subjectively suggests that water is touching more of the puck. This being said, scientific analysis has suggests this isn't as true as I may think. The bigger thing, for me, is that I don't have to clean coffee grinds from my shower screen. It's made my coffee extraction a lot cleaner. The nature of my espresso extraction has changed. I think my preinfusion time time is different, and I think my shot pours slower. I do think that there is less channeling, based on eyeing my bottomless portafilter. An annoying thing is that the mesh is so fine that cleaning it is involved. I will probably have to figuring out the right way to soak it to get coffee out of the small holes. I hope I don't have to get into sonic oscillators. I can't try to visual inspect light coming through it in order to get a sense of how clean it is. I don't regret owning it, I think my coffees are more consistent, although I think there's an adjustment I need to make to my shots that I haven't covered.

Great add-on for my Cafelat Robot. The original shower screen was ok but this one is way better. The extraction seems more even thru the puck. With the original screen I always had a "canyon" in the puck. The puck is perfect with this screen. Only two minor issue. It's hard to install in the basket and due to the tapered shape of the basket, you can't really go with smaller dose than 16gr.
