Making your own jeans... it can't get any crazier. But making the prototype was really fun! The instructions are clear, the only thing I find annoying is that the page is divided into columns; if you have poor eyesight like me and zoom in on the page, you sometimes almost 'forget' a step... but those are minor details. For now, I'm going back to summer projects, but those jeans are going to be made, and I will wear them with pride.

Morgan Jeans
This was my first time making a pair of jeans and I am surprised at how well they turned out! I used the button closure which I was hesitant about at first, but it came together nicely. This pattern was sized really well. I followed the video class and found it very helpful to be able to go back and review the video as I was sewing. Lots of good helpful hints in the video, especially for the first time sewing jeans.

Awesome pattern - Not just for denim!
I had been eyeing a pair of RTW red linen jeans, but couldn’t get my head around the $300+ price tag so I decided to make my own. I used the Morgan pattern along with some red linen from the CoreFabrics site, and the result if just perfect. I have sewn many zip flys but never a button fly - the instructions for the pattern were great and just to be safe I also purchased the jeans making class, which had a handful of really helpful hints not found in the instructions so I felt it was a worthwhile addition. I will definitely be making this pattern many more times come fall - they would look awesome in corduroy or velvet. This was a totally painless and immensely satisfying first attempt at “jeans.”
