These beats absolutely rock. With the MegaPack, I can't think of ANYTHING I couldn't find a beat for. Except for air drums on my dashboard at stoplights, I am not a drummer. Not even a little bit, ask my drummer! But I play a lot of styles, and just about every groove I can imagine is there, often with multiple nuances in different packs, and variations on top of that. Besides the fills, intros, and outros.
I use them in Addictive Drums 2. My DAW is Cubase. Big Addictive Drums fan here, too, and I want to shout out that the entire Groove Monkee collection integrates seemlessly with the functions of Addictive drums, which are themselves considerable. No install problems. The drum maps (which are extremely complicated), import perfectly.
For me, the biggest drag of the whole recording process is endlessly auditioning beats to find the right one. C'mon, at the end of the day, there's something crazy like 35000 files here! But the Groove Monkee beat and file naming conventions work great, once I clicked to the pattern of the naming of each file and the tree they are laid out in. It's fairly consistent across the library, that's good. The inclusion of whole song files is very helpful, especially those that are tied to known hit songs, BY NAME. Very helpful and cool.
All these features, when coupled with the really advanced search and audition functions in Addictive Drums, make that drum pain about as minimal as it's ever gonna be, I think. It has certainly changed and improved the way I work in the studio.
To summarize-
-Mega Pack. Endless grooves. Across multiple genres and flavors. All of them? All I can think of anyway!
-Great drummers. Rock solid, but they don't sound particularly quantized
-Wide variety of EVERYTHING: Intros, outros, fills, variations, choruses, middle 8's and bridges
-Solid naming conventions and file organization make the search and audition process of this HUGE collection manageable.
-With the Groove Monkee provided drum mapping to Addictive Drums, you wind up with FULL and COMPLETE integration of this huge library with the powerful search and editing functions of Addictive Drums. The two together are huge!
Lastly, shout out to Russ. I'm an idiot and re-bought a couple packs I already had. I just mentioned it in passing, and Russ immediately offered to swap them out for a couple packs I didn't already have. No questions. Thanks, bud!
