Great Everyday Bag With a Few Small Flaws
I've been using the Rework Toshi V2 for a couple of days now, and overall it's a bag I enjoy carrying. What stands out first is the material, which strikes a really good balance between flexibility and structure: it's soft enough to feel pleasant and forgiving, yet rigid enough to hold its shape and protect what's inside. That balance carries over to the comfort, which is excellent on the shoulders and over a full day of use.
The organization of the bag is another strong point. Everything has its place, and the overall layout feels well thought out and easy to live with day to day.
That said, it isn't perfect. The all-black stealth design looks great and gives the bag a clean, understated personality, but it has a practical downside: when you're in a hurry, it can be confusing to find the right zip for the right compartment in a split second. With no visual cue to tell them apart, you sometimes end up fumbling for a moment before landing on the one you wanted. Speaking of colors, I would have loved to see other options in the range, such as a navy blue, a tan or a khaki green. Black works well, but a bit more choice would let the bag fit different styles and tastes.
Along the same lines, I think a small branding touch would have been a nice addition. A Rework logo at the bottom of the bag, in a tone-on-tone color so it stays very discreet, would add some character without compromising the stealth look.
I'm also not fully convinced by the double opening on the exterior pocket. You always have to make sure both sides are properly closed, and forgetting one means you risk losing something without noticing, which is the last thing you want from a pocket that's meant to be quick and convenient. I guess I would have preferred the classic top access pocket.
Finally, the top handle could use a few more millimeters. As it stands, it leaves very little room for your fingers, which makes it less comfortable to carry by hand than it should be.
Overall, the Toshi V2 is a comfortable, well-organized bag built with a material I really like. A handful of small design choices keep it from being flawless, and I would have loved a bit more character through different colors, but these are the kind of details that could easily be refined, and they don't spoil the experience.
