Review: Five Stars. Free Will Was Never an Option.
Taylor Penton sent a note asking if I would write a review for Bea following my recent purchase.
Now, let us be clear: when Taylor asks for something, compliance is not merely an option; it is an absolute requirement. If he instructed me to walk into the sea, I would ask him what depth he preferred. Naturally, I opened my computer immediately to fulfill my duty.
However, I told myself that today would be different. Today, I would prove that I am an independent thinker with discernment and a backbone. I made a solemn pact to find at least one minor flaw, one awkward ligature, or one overly soft curve just to demonstrate that Taylor does not hold complete typographic dominion over my soul.
I failed utterly.
Bea is magnificent. Inspired by his wife, it carries an abundance of charm, warmth, and unmistakable confidence. The curves are soft without losing strength, the character shapes are wonderfully balanced, and it instantly brings life and approachability to any layout. I tried to stay neutral, but within thirty seconds of testing the glyphs, I was grinning like a fool and applying it to three different client decks.
Once again, Taylor wins, my illusion of free will is shattered, and twenty-five dollars has never felt better spent. If he asks you to buy this font, do not hesitate—just do as you are told.
