I didn’t buy the straw. The straw found me.
The moment I used it, my life split into two timelines: Before Straw (bleak, primitive) and After Straw (elevated, hydrated, enlightened). Water tasted like it had a purpose. I started bringing it everywhere like it was a tiny glass celebrity.
Then my friend came over.
They saw it.
They asked to try it.
I should’ve said no. I knew what would happen. But morality got the better of me.
They took one sip… and I watched their soul leave their body the same way mine once had.
“I need this,” they said.
Need.
Not want. Not borrow. Need.
