Exactly What I Needed
I wasn't sure how much of a difference this would make over my $20 USB-C dongle. I didn't think my headphones could sound that much better. The difference was immediately noticeable. Phone media sounds fantastic on my headphones, and via the aux input in my car stereo. From my PC, game audio is remarkably clear as well. This device delivers the clarity at low volume I'd been missing, and I am glad I bought it.
Now that I've seen what a more robust, powered DAC can do, I'm completely sold.
A minor quality of life complaint is that the volume knob has a tendency to turn in my pocket, as it shuffles around while I walk. The battery drains a little faster than I would expect, for boasting 12 hours of listening on a charge, but it hasn't inconveniently died on me so far.
