Sixth Grade Curriculum

We love Time4learning for the most part. This is our first year to use it so it is taking a bit of time to get adjusted. Our sixth grader had been in public schools since kindergarten and they had focused only on reading and math so we have been playing catch up this year. The math curriculum seems to be lacking somewhat. I am supplementing YouTube videos to give us a better understanding. The math videos provided don’t give us enough to work with. We have a similar problem occasionally in science. I think it’s because she has had little exposure to science so we have struggled. I like the way the curriculum is designed and it makes it easy for me to use supplementary material as needed. My daughter (her mom) is a college professor and tells me this curriculum is preparing her for college. There are a few technology and AI bugs in the program that need to be worked out but overall it is worth the cost.

I’m very disappointed with my experience with Time4Learning. I signed up on August 14 and ended up deciding after only a few days that the curriculum wasn’t the right fit for my daughter. I cancelled the subscription and contacted customer service to request a refund since we had barely used the program. Unfortunately, they refused to refund the payment. I understand that companies have policies, but I’m disappointed that there was no willingness to work with me given how quickly I cancelled and how little we actually used the curriculum. Customer service was polite, but the overall experience left me feeling like the company cared more about keeping the payment than making a customer feel valued. I would encourage other parents to be very sure the program is right for them before signing up.

I love that the kids learn through video. My son is a visual learner. He likes that he can watch and listen. The multiple choice and drop and drag questions are great for him. He does not do well on the short and long answer. He is autistic and has a very hard time explaining things, so we skip those when that the only choice. That’s the only problem we have at this time.
