Phoenix and Tree

Materials were high quality, a delight to work with and beautifully packaged. This was my first crewel work and between the provided instructions and a few online videos it was a successful, pleasant process. I did find that the colors provided were darker with more greens than the provided photo and online. There was barely any blue. Not sure I would have purchased this specific design had I known. For the phoenix I substituted colors to lighten up the piece. I also struggled to keep fabric tension in a hoop as I progressed with the work with the thickness of some of my stitched areas. I used the suggested method of cling film. May proceed with a slate frame in the future.

My daughters treated me to the Phoenix and Tree kit for my birthday in December. What a wonderful gift. Beautifully packaged, quality materials and clear, concise instructions. This is my second project and I'm getting more confident in making slight changes. I've just started Running Hare now, another gift from my girls for Christmas.
