Disappointed and Concerned

I have made two recent purchases of the Gillies Caramel Nut whole bean coffee and was unhappy with both. The first purchase was a 5 lb bag. When I opened the bag, it had a strong chemical smell, and the beans were very dry, not shiny at all. I had hoped this was an an anomaly and made this most recent purchase of a two pound bag. When this bag was opened, the beans were glossy and visually appealing, but they once again had a terrible chemical smell. The quality of these purchases has been both disappointing and very concerning health wise. In years past, I have purchased this same coffee and had a positive experience. I don't know what has changed in the sourcing, roasting, and packaging process, but needless to say, I will not purchase from Gillies again.
