Perfect replacment remote.

Sticky remotes.
I ordered two remotes — one for my JC2BP pre-amp and my CD1 cd player. Both are 5+ years old and the batteries had leaked, ruining the remote controls. I ordered replacements and, fortunately, Parasound still had these in stock despite their being 15 yr old "New but Old Stock" units. The two remotes are working flawlessly — typical Parasound. But when I removed them from the plastic wrappers, the back sides of both devices were so sticky, they leave my hands a mess. I’ve encountered this before with my old Parasound remotes (and with other manufacturers as well.) It’s the rubber-like material used on the back side of the device that deteriorates over time and when it does, the devices feel like they’ve been dipped in sticky syrup. You can get the stickiness off — just takes a clean rag, a bottle of rubbing alcohol, and lots of elbow grease. And then you have to apply some type of finish (I’ve used a poly sealer in the past) to keep the sticky condition from re-appearing. Very disappointing for a brand new remote control but it’s an industry wide problem. Best to manufacture all-metal remotes for high quality products.
