Dex Camera - the Language Learning Camera

I recently purchased the Dex Camera as a learning aid for teaching French as a secondary language to my 4-year-old. My child was enamored with the Dex from the moment I introduced it into our daily routine. He likes that the camera says his name, that it reacts in real time to the pictures he takes, and that it responds to his voice. He enjoys the activities too, especially the scavenger hunts and interactive stories. He sees it as a fun toy. From my perspective as a parent, however, the Dex is an incredible, almost magical device. I have worked so hard to expose my child to French at home from birth (we read French picture books, listen to French music, watch French cartoons, subscribe to a French children's magazine, and seek out French activities whenever possible). Though my child knows many French words, he has always been hesitant to speak the language. That changed the day the Dex Camera arrived. I don't know if I can describe the emotions I felt hearing my child speak his first French words, the language his great-grandparents spoke when they arrived in this country, the language I have been working my entire life to reclaim. I want to thank the creators of the Dex Camera for giving my child an accessible entry point into the language. Now that he is used to practicing aloud with his Dex, he is much more confident in engaging with me in French even when the Dex isn't around. We are a low income family and the Dex was a big investment for us, but his progress over the past month has been very much worth it. I do wish the subscription had a less expensive option (and/or that more activities were made available to all users), but overall I am happy with how well the device works on our Wifi at home and that it can be connected to the internet via a phone hotspot when we're out and about. I would recommend the Dex Camera to any parents seeking a child-directed and child-motivated language-learning device.

I bought this for my 5 year old to learn mandarin, and he loves it. The app is easy to use. The camera feature makes vocabulary practice more interactive. Especially, we love the music played in the stories. On the downside, recognition accuracy can occasionally vary depending on lighting or object being scanned, and I would like to see more advanced grammar and conversation features added in the feature. Overall, Dex is a creative and engaging language-learning tool that helps to build vocabulary and practice a new language.

I would 100% recommend this to parents! My children love taking photos with it and learning along with it. I like the flexibility that we are able to adjust the different learning levels to cater for different ages. It gives the children encouragement while they are leaning along with the camera which I thought it is a great plus! I think it is suitable for around age 3 to 8 years old.
