Quality has dropped.
This isn't my first Voltbike Mariner. I have heart issues, and can't always peddle. I loved my last Mariner, which I bought used, so was happy to buy the next one new. However the motor died and cable melted, less than a year after buying. The repairs were covered by the warranty (I was told it would be covered when I dropped it off, but they tried to bill me for the repairs. I had to argue to get my bike back without paying and had to point out that I didn't authorize any paid work to be done on the bike whatsoever).
I was told in the shop that I MUST peddle, or this will happen. The whole reason I bought this bike is that it has an independent throttle. I have medical issues which prevent me from peddling. Anyone buying this bike should be aware that if they use this feature, exactly as advertised, it will break the bike. They seemed to think it was my fault, that their design is defective.
I expect I will get another year out of it, before it happens again. They also told me I will have to pay to fix their defective product, the next time I bring it in.
I believe the quality has slipped on these bikes, as this wasn't an issue with my last mariner. The motors they use have nylon brushes now, but they previously were made with metal brushes. Fortunately, I kept my last voltbike as a parts-bike, so when this happens again, I will swap the better motor from my old bike, which is still going strong after being used much longer by myself and a previous owner.
Loved the bike enough to buy it again. Very sad that it isn't what it used to be.

Mariner
Second time we bought Voltbikes. Has zero issues with the yukon's .
This little bike is easy to get on and off. Handles speed well. Wish we had got torque sensor. Takes off like a bullet. Looking for a way to move handle bar back an inch or to for more comfortable fit on wifes bike. I may want to push my seat back some as a little close. Good Bike built well.
