Beautiful balhyocha
Really pleased to have found this balhyocha. I brewed it gongfu style. First steeped at 95c for 30 seconds which was slightly too light. Then for 40 seconds, immediately rendering the liquor much darker and bringing its characteristic scented wood perfume and flavour. Musky but catching a hint of morning glory in the smell. Taste wise, it’s a choreography of woodiness, cocoa, cigar, asparagus. At the same time floral. Generally fascinated by balhyocha as a kind of tea that is hard to categorize, somewhere between a hongcha and an oolong. A comforting, elegant and special tea.
