When I received it, it felt kind of cheap, but it turned out perfect for the job. My cat is very temperamental about being touched with "things" in general, let alone things that make noise. I was able to shave out two fur mats with this.

Great for precision trimming. Really gentle with no pulling that i can detect and the noise level is pretty quiet. I use this on my bunnies. Takes a long time to cut through tough matting though.
