Solar Flare FX Filter

This was my first time working with Prism Lens FX filters, and I decided to take a chance after being impressed by their website and the testimonials. I was keen to add some unique options to my kit that I could pull out when the right project came along. The Solar Flare FX filter immediately stood out because of its design, and I was really excited to try it. As I’m based in the UK, I decided to order a few filters at once as they would be getting shipped a long way. Firstly, the customer support and shipping process were fantastic. I actually received the order earlier than expected, despite being warned in advance that one of the filters was on back-order. I was then able to camera-test all the filters for a project starting in early 2026. Both the Director and I quickly fell in love with the Solar Flare FX filter and could immediately see it working for one of the storylines in the current Drama series I’m shooting. The moment we dropped it into the filter tray, it elevated the image to another level. Depending on the intensity of the light source in frame, the flare can be beautifully subtle or deliver a full, striking effect. My focus puller commented on it straight away, and after only a week of shooting they’re already planning to add one to their own kit. In one sequence we shot with a cool light source, and the filter introduced a gentle warmth into the highlights of the image, creating a really pleasing contrast with the cooler light coming through the window. It added character without overpowering the scene. I’m now very much looking forward to finding the right sequence to properly showcase the Radiant FX filter as well. I’m also very much sold on the products from this company and will be ordering more soon.
