The Mandarin 840 material is super nice and feels sufficiently waterproof and abrasion resistant. Only two suggestions for future iterations: Add one water bottle pocket made from a stretchy nylon material and add Hypalon zipper pulls with Hypalon assist pulls at opposite end of the zippers. Offer additional material options like Ultra 400TX.

As someone who has been “looking for the perfect backpack” for many years I think I found it. Inside feels nice and big, laptop device area is slim and doesent take a ton of the bag(an issue i have with a popular SF brand). Material is lifht but premium and tough. Excited to take this thing on my next trips. Now im wanting the a4u sling.

It's premium, and it's worth it.
I've tried several backpacks in recent years (the Aer City Pack and City Pack Pro, Tomtoc UrbanEX-T77, Bellroy Tokyo Totepack, Bellroy Classic Daypack) but I knew the Pioneer Duration was an INSTANT winner the moment I got my hands on it. This thing more than earns its price. I love the pleasing, beautiful, classic design. The workmanlike zippers are incredibly stylish and open & close like butter. At the same time, it's highly functional: every pocket actually has independent volume and they're easily accessible from the top (no fumbling with a vertical zipper that deposits all your items in a messy pile at the bottom). The fabric is sturdy and polished. The big straps rest comfortably on my shoulders without a problem, and most of all, they're not overengineered to death the way that many other modern bag brands today tend to do with a million lash points, dongles, hooks, and other accoutrements. It's clean, simple, and gets the job done. The bonuses: - The bag stands upright completely on its own. You'll wonder why your other backpacks never did this and you'll never want to go back to any bag that doesn't. (Same goes for the luggage pass-through strap, which puts the backpack in an upright position.) - The clamshell opening and decent capacity means enough space to carry all the daily essentials. For me, that includes my computer, water bottle, several personal items, gym clothes, a tech pouch, and 2-3 journals. - The streamlined silhouette. Unlike other bags of this size, it's not so overly structured to the point where it looks like a giant box on your back. I find that it stays pretty elegant and professional no matter how much or how little you pack it. And while I haven't tried it on a plane yet, I have no doubt that it will slot perfectly underneath the seat in front of me. - The luggage tag, which is a nice touch to make sure the bag stays identifiably yours even when traveling. For anyone looking for a professional, stylish, and functional EDC, I highly highly highly recommend the Duration.
