“Nostos”. A title which probably allows the author considerable latitude to be inclusive.
“Nostos”, a book which was made known to me some years ago is in my possession. Having only read the first forty pages, a review of the content might seem a little premature. What I can say is that it has gripped me in ways which other books never have. The religious references require considerable research, but the effort is handsomely repaid and the relevance of the references adds hugely to the content. Moriarty seems to treat the most banal topics with a reverence and appreciation in a most profound manner. The universality of growing up through the ages is placed within mythological traditions. I find myself marvelling at the intricacies of life which Moriarty then places in a biblical or societal context. Much of the content is similar to what one might experience growing up on a farm and spending time one’s own. The challenge arises in the allusions which are made to the biblical and mythological frames of reference.

Not a Paperback
Book arrived in good condition. Obviously was the book I ordered so no complaints there. But this book is not a paperback, which I would have preferred. It is a hardback.
