I finally moved out
Sorry, I know it's been a year at least. My old landlord wouldn't hear me out about the Murphy bed that I purchased. The model I bought lag screws into the bottom stud. But I am in my new place now and have been loving my new bed. My new place is spacious but still a studio 20x30 . So when I have company or if the dog gets the zoomies, up the bed goes...easy peasy. The bed itself went together easy as can be. The springs were A learning curve, but I pulled through. Solidly built , I believe this will pass the test of time🙂 Thanks again. Hope this helps anyone that's on the fence. Well worth it 🙂

Sturdy and strong Murphy bed
This Murphy Door bed frame is well made from heavy gauge structural steel. I was surprised by how heavy the whole thing was when it arrived. Once assembled it works perfectly, balance is just right for a single queen mattress on a flat plywood base (bolted to metal frame). It is exactly what I wanted and saved me a lot of money over other beds. The instructions were quite good with a few exceptions: 1) Anchor bolts for a concrete floor are provided but nothing for a wood floor like I had. 2) It isn't clear which holes in the side frame bars are for the cross bars. After a bit of experimentation I figured it out. 3) They say to install all the springs after the frame is assembled. That will make it impossible to keep the metal frame down on the floor for finishing the wood platform and to put the mattress on top. The frame will keep popping up the the wall because there is not enough weight to hold it down. I installed only two springs per side (4 total) for the finishing and mattress install part, then I raised the finished bed to the wall and installed the remaining springs (5 per side total). 4) Do not install the springs using a screwdriver like it says in the instructions. It is dangerous and very difficult. Use the vise grips pliers method shown in a video on their website. Even that method is tricky, you have to make sure the vise grips are very tight on the spring or they will slip off. Only use one hand for installing the springs, keep your other hand out of the way to avoid injury, and wear safety glasses.
