Durston X-Mid Pro 2 first use at the Ochsenhorn / Switzerland
On our initial tent use, we picked a location at 2,600 meters / 8,500 feet altitude during pleasant weather in June 2026. Despite the good weather, we needed a protected area due to powerful wind gusts. The tent assembly was surprisingly easy and quick, even with the wind. By morning, the temperature had fallen to 0 degrees Celsius / 32 degrees Fahrenheit. This summer tent is perfect for our hiking and biking adventures, a great alternative to bivouac bags.

X-Mid Pro 2+
I've had the tent for about 1 year now and have used it on 6 longer trips and a few weekend getaways. I have, however, been disappointed with 2 important aspects. 1 - getting the bathtub be vertical and to not lie flat takes way too much setup. If you don't pitch it EXACTLY right, the tent has no floor rain protection. I have watched the videos here and on YouTube, follow those instructions, but still it is near impossible to properly pitch. 2- condensation is an issue, especially when 2 people are in the tent. Open the tiny vents, but in the middle of the night it always seems to be dripping inside the tent (even when it is dry outside). A low base weight does not make up for these issues. - On a positive note - I love my Durston backpack. That is a keeper.

Backpacking tent perfection
Legit couldn’t design a better backpacking tent. Never used trekking poles before but the tent calls for it and it’s been an amazing addition to my backpacking. Worth every penny!
