Love this V90 set
I just outfitted my 2015 Custom Portlander with a new Lambertone V90/Redeye set. This might be my favorite p’up combo yet. These replaced Lollar El Rayos that were part of the original build. The Redeye in the bridge is similar to the El Rayo, but hotter and a but thicker. The V90 in the neck is perfection. Much more articulate and 3 dimensional. Obviously a very different pickup than the El Rayo neck, and even better than I expected. I like it even better than my Ristretto neck in my Jazzmaster, and I love my Ristrettos. Well done Kurtis and team.

V90’s are sick!
The combo of the V90 and Red Eye is perfect. They maintain that signature “Lambertone” clarity, but also can push through and get a little gritty. They sound great!

Fantastic Pickups! (V90 set w/Grinder)
Man, Kurtis really hooked me up. I reached out to him because I didn’t see any 3 pickup options and was just curious what he thought would sound good in my 3 pup Gretsch. He recommended the new V90 set (P90 Neck & Red Eye HB bridge) with a Grinder in the middle. He was also able to keep the gold finish intact, really tailoring this set for me and my preferences. Sent it to a local luthier and was finally able to play on it yesterday. First impressions were “man, these sound WAY better than my stock pups”. I’ve never really played on P90’s - just never really preferred them over humbuckers, but these sound fantastic. Probably the perfect neck pickup option for the Gretsch. It has a really nice, smooth tone. Has that low end warmth but also so much clarity in the mids-top end. It’s exactly the tone I was looking for. The Red Eye kind of caught me off guard at first because it wasn’t what my ears were really accustomed to. I’m used to just a really bright bridge pup that kind of lacks in the lowend and even most of the mids. The Red Eye seemed to be more mid heavy centered. And when you use it for your higher gained tone, man this thing can rip. The clarity I get, is incredible. Definitely allows my more overdriven tones to cut. And in MY situation, the secret sauce is the Grinder pup in the middle. It allows me to have essentially 6 different tonal options with my guitar. It sounds incredible by itself. I’ll be using it as my like second stage sound - (for chords or even lead lines that don’t require a lot of drive) but also when you use it in conjunction with the other options, it can really shape both the neck and bridge pups in a great way. Kurtis said I’d have the ultimate versatile guitar with this set and he was spot on! Even the luthier fell in love with my guitar/pickup combo - he’s considering getting the same setup 😄 In short, these are fantastic pickups and I don’t think you can go wrong with anything Kurtis makes. My buddies have the Ristretto’s and Cremas etc and their guitars sound killer. Look at the different options and if you have any questions, Kurtis was extremely helpful in helping me decide on my current set. 10/10 recommend👌
