Pretty lamp but. . .

I love this modern lamp and the colors. I was disappointed that you cannot adjust the shade ir that the shade isn't larger. Once you turn it on, the bulb is too bright and not covered enough by the shade. I have to turn it so it faces the wall. I did buy the correct bulb snd even tried a smaller bulb but still the same problem. Any suggestions or this may just be the design of the lamp.
