I haven't tried knee sleeves before
Talked to a few guys. Seems to be a thing. The fit is good. Im exactly on the edge of the sizing. Clear instructions helped me get the correct size

This is my first pair of sleeves, overall I am happy with them and I think they work. The only downside is actually not with them but with my legs, I am in a weird size place where the smaller size would be uncomfortable bit these are still just a touch loose in spots, guess thay just means ill have to work harder to fill them out.
