Screws too small and LOOSE controling the lid

Material is great The only problem I did not like is the screws supplied to train the rise and fall of the lid were too small and the chickens had no trouble in having the lid move so the screws holding the lid in position no longer did their job and being untrained I need to replace them with longer screws Maybe change these screws for future sales

Still working through the training phase. The feeder work as it should. The current challenges are with the feed.type. I have fed crumble historically. It does not seem to slide down well on its own. I plan to try pellets in the future. The second challenge that I have experienced is putting the feeder in the coop. I use wood shavings for bedding. It builds up under the tredle and can prevent the lid from opening all the way. I plan to set this outside in the run on a pallet once I remove the training bolts. Optimistic that this will be weatherproof once the lid can fully close.

We’ve only had our Grandpa’s Treadle Feeder for a few weeks. We’ve had another (generic) treadle feeder in the past, that worked wonderfully at feeding the chickens and preventing rodents from getting at the food however, the parts very quickly rusted. Hopefully that will not occur with the grandpa’s feeder as Rodan’s are continuous problem and we’ve spent a great deal of money on different types of feeders to prevent the local rodents from eating all the chicken feed. The Grandpa’s feeder came quickly, was undamaged, came with very simple instructions with minimal ‘construction’ necessary. Hopefully the parts (hinges and springs which control the door opening action) will liveup to the price.
