Sunflowers

Great germination!

Ordering easy, received quickly, really consistent germination in all our field. Will order again!

Poor (terrible) germination rate for sunflower seeds.

Terrible germination rate. Planted as a small area for a over crop and almost nothing came up. Did a germination test myself: planted 60 randomly chosen seeds in my usual peat + perlite seedling mix. Only 2 seeds out of 60 germinated. As a control group, I also planted another 60 sunflower seeds from a bird seed mixture I had purchased from TSC. Got a germination rate with the "bird seed sunflowers" of 36 out of 60. The sunflower bag label from Peltcher's has a stated germination rate of 85%. I am planting the bird seed sunflowers from TSC... in fact. planted some as a cover crop and got a very good germination. Unfortunately, Peltcher's sunflower seeds (Lot 7025; Origin: SD) were a big disappointment.
