My second time using the HR500 I had 2 adult does and 4 yearlings come in down wind to within 20 yards and never knew I was there. I ended up taking the biggest one with my bow. I'd say it works very well.

Have only used once

Had two coyotes come downwind. The larger one checked up briefly and wind checked and then continued on. We all know that if a coyote catches your wind, they are outta there in a flash! I ended up harvesting a 7-1/2 yr old 7 pointer that evening that also came from the downwind side. I guess you could say that I am now a believer!!
