Check out question 65 about sentence type. I think there is a mistake in the answer key. I think the sentence is a compound sentence, not compound complex because "including humpback whales and blue whales" is a phrase not a clause. Answer key shows 65 D II This sentence is a compound-complex sentence because it contains two independent clauses and one dependent clause. Independent clause: Baleen whales have fibrous ‘baleen’ plates in their mouths instead of teeth. Independent clause: This helps them filter out and consume huge quantities of krill, plankton, and crustaceans. Dependent clause (descriptive clause): including humpbacks and blue whales Also, I think the Strawman description for logical fallacies found on page 99 is not correct. Please help me because I am brand new at teaching language arts. I need all the help that I can get. Thanks!
