These pliers are a must have when hand laying track. The jaws are perfectly machined to hold rail spikes for installation.

I have never hand spiked before. I would NEVER have succeeded w/o this tool. I tried to make my own spiking tool as per magazine articles on the subject but could not get the precision and gripping power this tool has.
