Beautiful work
Great axe. Feels lighter than it looks. Scraped the lacquer off handle burnished it and gave it many coats of BLO. Now I need a sheath as they were out

Stump Grinder Alternative
I had some stumps and roots that I needed to get rid of and I thought instead of spending money on renting a stump grinder I could buy a tool that I could own and use for years and years. I didn’t want to use my good splitting axes because I knew I would hit rocks and dirt and a root cutting axe would get beaten up pretty good. When I asked for advice on a good axe for this job several people said I should get a Pulaski, and a few recommended this one. I like that it’s make in the US and the price was right. It’s a good tool. The adze end helped clearing dirt and roots and rock out of the way and I used it to cut through roots and to get under large pieces so I could pry up. It’s especially useful for chopping under a big hunk of stump to sever a taproot. The axe is easy to swing, a comfortable weight. I was skeptical of the safety grip handle but wanted to try it knowing I could just sand it off if I didn’t like it. It feels terrible, even with gloves on, as you slide your hands up and down the handle. I don’t know why anyone would like this safety grip. I’ll be sanding it off. I also think the palm swell could be a little bit larger. I chopped at my stump for 3 nights, about half an hour each night, and it’s all gone now. I’m looking forward to the next stump and I expect to get good use out of this axe for a lifetime.
