In my experience, these needles are better suited for saddle stitching compared to John James needles for two reasons:
Blunt round point needle head
Doesn't easily catch leather fibres when pushing through the stitching holes ...

They are great
Great needles - much better than JJ. More blunt and less hooking with thread. Pleasure to work with. I will buy more for thicker thread.

I wanted to try these needles because of the hype around the thread channels on the eyelets, and yes they seem better, but not like magic. These are very hard to get in the States, so at least I can say that I have tried them. Still need to work them a bit more before I say they are any better than John James. Still good quality German made needles.
