Polly wants an animalic? Pleasant, balanced surprise!
I love when a perfume surprises me. I love it even more when it pulls off something completely bizarre without turning into a gimmick. I kept sniffing my wrist trying to figure it out. It doesn’t smell like a bird—it smells like the feeling of holding one. Soft feathers, warm skin, a little dusty, weirdly comforting, and somehow addictive. Parakeet somehow makes “tiny warm bird” smell beautiful, it’s not just animalic it has a heartbeat, like you’re holding a little companion. The opening is all sparkling grapefruit soda—bright, effervescent, almost impossibly cheerful. But then something unexpected begins to emerge. It isn’t dirty enough to be traditionally animalic, and it isn’t clean enough to be a typical white musk. It’s the scent of warmth. Of soft down. Of something alive. What I love most is the tension between the fizzy grapefruit and that soft animal warmth. One sparkles; the other settles close to the skin. One feels playful; the other feels intimate. Together they create a scent that is impossible to categorize but immediately recognizable once you’ve experienced it. Parakeet reminds me that “animalic” doesn’t always mean leather, civet, or fur. Sometimes it simply means alive. It’s the gentle scent of companionship rather than wilderness—a memory more than a perfume. I’ve smelled plenty of fragrances that impressed me. Parakeet is one of the very few that genuinely surprised me.

It was fun smelling this one. Unlike anything I’ve smelled before. Tart citrus and, laundry soap, plus the feather note! Its nice. Not something od wear often but it does last a long time on skin. I dont mind spraying on my hand before bed and catching wiffs while ready a book. Its nice.

An amazing sweet, citrusy, bubbly scent. The powdery “parakeet” notes are surprisingly lovely. Lasts all day.
