I purchased this multitool to replace my old EDC Leatherman Wingman, which I carried for years here in the states and internationally. I like this tool, it seems well made and solid (I've been carrying this about two weeks now). The scissors are larger and effective, the knife blade is scary sharp, the multi-side file is nice, and the other bits and bobs on it are good quality and mostly useful. That being said, do I think its worth what I paid for it ? No, not really. I feel the Wingman was equally good (at a quarter the price). The Wingman also had a serrated blade, which was nice, spring-loaded pliers, also nice, and a built in pocket clip. The fact that the Alpha doesnt come with a case and has a modular pocket clip that has to be purchased seperately (which also has quite a bit of slop movement to it when clipped into the tool body) doesnt really seem to be what the Leatherman brand used to be. All in all, a good, clean tool, but leaving me with a bit of a "Meh" feeling.

My new Leatherman
I am flabbergasted the kind of money you charge for a Leatherman and can’t send a sheath to carry it in along with I have been a Leatherman fan for many years, but I am very disappointed

Everything I wanted out of a leatherman
I watched many reviews about the Wave Alpha and was debating between this and the Arc. I’m glad I went with the Wave Alpha even if I get the Arc later. My previous tool was the original Wave, which I’ve had for at least 15 years. The Alpha feels great/comfortable in the hand especially with the G10 handles. The blacked-out look is awesome though it would have been better if the washers and thumb stud matched. I preferred the bottle opener and awl on this versus the Arc. The magnacut blade is sharp and but probably overkill. I have a magnacut blade I carry as an edc so this was not necessarily a selling point, though it did not hurt of course. With regards to the lack of a clip or case, I found that disappointing. I purchased an aftermarket clip and that has no wiggle at all, and it matches the finish perfectly so perhaps that is a plus since the leatherman clips have a little wiggle with the Wave Alpha. The tool was a little stiff to start, but I used KPL (original) liberally in all of the pivots and have been using it. It’s now got the right smoothness everywhere except for the blade which is still tight. If this moved around the like the Arc, then that would probably be the perfect tool for me. I just did not like the existing Arc’s color scheme, and was worried about the handle comfort, which is important to me.
