Versatile compression

Variable knee, peak/ RMS detection and an additional 'valve in' saturation option makes for a versatile compressor. It's clean and sounds good- tends to sit on my 2bus most of the time. Not quite a five star product for the lack of HQ mode or internal oversampling- and no straightforward integration with SSL's own 360 virtual mixdesk.

SSL X-ValveComp – Great Character and Versatility

SSL X-ValveComp is a great compressor for adding subtle analog-style character without making the signal sound overly processed. It works especially well on vocals, guitars, drums and buses where a little extra density and warmth is needed. The controls are straightforward, making it quick to dial in anything from gentle leveling to more obvious compression. I particularly like how the valve saturation adds harmonic richness while still keeping the sound clear and punchy. For the price, it is a very useful and versatile addition to a mixing toolbox.
