A channel strip with real flavor

The character of this channel strip is noticeable instantly. I'll be honest (and probably criticized) when I say that I have never cared for the compressors in SSL channel strips... until now. I just always preferred LA2As, 1176s, or Distressors. After just two uses, I definitely see myself using this regularly.

SL 4K B – Highly Recommended

SSL 4K B sounds excellent. It adds character, depth, and an analog vibe. The EQ and compressor are very musical and easy to use. The plugin is stable and works great in everyday mixing sessions. I am very satisfied with this purchase.

Excellent

I particularly like the preamp. It's probably the one SSL preamp that is actually colored. The E series has its flavor, too, but not as strong. Even though it doesn't awe through character or sheen, it's very effective in rounding up transients, and cleaning signal up. The compressor has fixed ratios, still powerful in slapping things around. And the very net EQ that you expect of an SSL. I always favor the SSL version of these strips because they have the Width ****, which is always necessary in placing things in the stereo field. I always process every source in stereo and half of the reason is stereo delays for instruments. The other half is taking advantage of the width know of an SSL channel.
