Solved 90% of the problem

I purchased a BD5 hitch for my GMC Sierra 3500 puck setup in 2021. I previously purchased 2 BD3 hitch’s for my previous truck that didn’t have a factory puck mount setup. Both BD3 hitch’s worked well only having to replace 2 airbags. When I installed my BD5 hitch I noticed a loud clunk upon takeoff and at times during braking. I called and spoke with Aaron he said he did hear a few other people having the same issues, and said to install a washer as a shims underneath the mounting pegs. After doing so I still had the same issue, I tried using a thick piece of rubber underneath the lower mounting plate between the pegs and it still didn’t make much of a difference. Than I received a email from Hensley Trailer Saver offering a kit to solve what seemed like a common issue. When I contacted Aaron again he could not guarantee this would solve my issue but said it had success with some customers. I waited a few months to look for customer reviews to see what the majority of customers putting this on and solving the issue. I seen early reviews saying some had to grind down the bracket to fit properly. I received another email in early summer about the bracket kit and noticed the price nearly doubled. And seeing more reviews on later customers not having to grind the bracket perhaps due to it being redesigned. So with all this said I inquired again asking if these are now standard on all new BD5 hitches and the answer was yes. I installed it easily and it has resolved the loud clunking noise issues. But I did notice my Rods holding the head unit to the hitch had metal scars, obviously a now known design issue. The reason for 4 star review is Hensley knew that there was a issue and with the PREMIUM PRICE of this hitch they should have given this kit free or at THERE COST to customers that were experiencing this noise. I’ve been a loyal customer purchasing 3 hitches in the past and replacement parts. Do not get me wrong I really believe in their products and have recommended them to several friends who did buy them. I’m happy only hearing minimal noise but the metal scars on the rods make me wonder if those not wanting to buy the kit are going to have to buy said rods along with the kit sooner or later. Hensley I in my opinion believe the should offer loyalty customers this kit at least at their cost because there was obviously a known design issue, Hensley please thank notice of my HONESTY REVIEW.

Well thought out retrofit

I have a little over 40k miles towing use on my BD-5 hitch with no outward signs of fatigue anywhere. I thought it would be prudent to purchase and install the Beam Guide Kit as an additional precaution. Kit came with new bolts and all comprehensive instructions, took 15 minutes to install.
