Most intense Shawploitation release yet!
Juvenile delinquent, ultra violent biker exploitation film, well outside the usual Shaw Brothers remit, and historically one of a kind for Hong Kong, featuring leather-clad degenerates terrorizing holiday makers in mercilessly harrowing fashion. The third entry in Vinegar Syndrome’s “Shawploitation” series lives up to the moniker in every respect and for its intensity of filmmaking and on-screen depravity, makes total sense coming from The Boxer’s Omen and Hex series director Kuei Chih-hung. Contemporaneously, Straw Dogs is the obvious influence, but the youth angle with its gleefully unrepentant, gut-twisting psychological torment by a feral gang, feels more like Hong Kong Eden Lake on wheels. The gradual wanton destruction of a holiday home feels like larger society being ripped to shreds. Scenes of the bikes tearing down everything around them indoors like screeching, skidding wrecking balls, are as extraordinary as the outdoor open road—clearly very dangerous—stunts, brilliantly shot by The Black Tavern DP Yau Kei.

More Shaw!
Brutal motorcycle mayhem from the inimitable Shaw brothers! Loving the shaw-sploitation series, showcasing their knack for exploitation outside of their more known kung-fu output, hope there are many more on the way!

Crazy Fun!
Motorcycles in Hong Kong. What more can I say? I have the Shawsploitation fever, and it ain't stopping! Just a good deep cut and the commentary on these and special features are just all around done well. Good stuff.
