Awesome baselayer bottoms

I really like the Backcountry baselayer! I have really sensitive skin and I usually don’t wear merino because it’s too itchy. These baselayer are nothing like itchy… they are soft and comfortable!!! I opted for the Wild Iris fit because of my straight shape! I was also in-between sizes and I’m glad I sized-up (both sizes would have fit me, but I’m certainly more comfortable in a bigger size without being too loose). Special note on the snug fit at the ankle. It just gives the special touch to these baselayer!

I bought these baselayer pants for a 17 day Grand Canyon river trip in January, plus living and bike commuting in Wisconsin. I have bad eczema and have to avoid wool baselayers, so I was looking for a replacement with similar durability and odor resistance. I tested their odor resistance with 10 days of continuous use in the canyon, and I'm happy to say they definitely could have smelled worse! They have a great warmth to weight ratio, and I love the multiple fit options. They're also super durable, showing no signs of wear post-trip, while most of the rest of my gear looks like it got chewed up and spit out. Two small things to look out for- they're not very high waisted, making it very difficult to tuck in your baselayer top, and the seam around the ankle can rub if you're wearing a boot. Overall, I'm so happy I bought a pair, and I look forward to wearing them for years to come!
